Show: Skate It or Hang It!? - the evolution of skateboard art
Dates: June 16 – Sept 16, 2012
Location: MODA Atlanta
Artists to appear and Loan Original Works to the Exhibition: Steve Olson, Lance Mountain, Wes Humpston, Andy Howell, Sean Cliver, Don Pendleton, Jim Phillips (loaning art but not appearing at opening). (Probably want to list Alphabetically by per last name)
Events: -Opening to include Demo by 5Boro on Peachtree St in front of Museum in heart of Atlanta
-Working on deal to potentially premier screenings of skate art documentary “sk8 face” (most of the artists in the exhibition are in the film)
-During the 3 months of the exhibition there will be three (3) skate activations for sponsors to promote their brands (along with the 3 month duration at the museum)
-During the 3 months of the exhibition there will also be three (3) “art” activities one of which assist underprivileged youth
Features:
Gallery 1 - will feature over 200 decks from 1970s through today illustrating the sea change in skate art plus a large scale street art installation
Gallery 2 – will feature 2 street art installations 8 ft high by over 100 ft long
Gallery 3 – will feature original art by all the artists named above, a “manufacture” of decks exhibit, worn board sculpture, etc.
I am also building a 9ft deck out of maple that will be interactive with “stickers” for every ticketed entrant to be given a sponsor sticker to slap on the giant board

This is a quick overview. Don Pendleton is currently working on the exhibition “poster” which will be used as the face of the press kit which is in development. I hope to have that finished in the next 3-4 weeks....
